My calling as a still photographer to show you what's there, you said? No. Maybe I can show you what I saw. Whether that has anything to do with what's there is unknowable. And sometimes what I see is noise, passage, imprecise; other times pure pattern or just an object, a person.

Let's see what we can, while we're here, you said. And I say: exactly that, precisely that: here it is.

The images on this site represent work I consider "finished," and in some sense thematically coherent. (Eventually I may get around to attaching a statement or description to each of the portfolios, but I hate writing that kind of thing.) Perhaps more important, it's all work that exists in the form of prints. For me, that's what "a finished image" really means.

I use flickr as a kind of working image notebook, so you can see what I'm in the middle of there. Every month or so I make a selection of recent images from flickr for my "work in progress" portfolio.

What else? Cameras: Leica rangefinders, Nikon DSLR's, a couple of point&shoot digicams, cellphones, and, yes, film too. Lightroom and Photoshop. I do my own printing: inkjet on fiber paper. But really, the equipment doesn't matter, does it?

Recently my work has been shown as part of the Contact Toronto Photography Festival in 2009, at the Queen West Art Crawl exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto since 2008, and at the Wellington County Museum Insights juried show in Elora Ontario in 2007.

Drop me a line if you're interested in a particular image, want to be informed of upcoming shows, or just want to say hello. You can contact me at the phone number or email at the bottom of each of these pages.
